I make the sad things funny.
Howdy! I’m Louisa (Lou) Duchin and I am a writer and filmmaker based out of Rochester, NY. Prior to filmmaking, I lived many lives working as a nurse, clown, librarian, psychic and more. With bachelor’s degrees in Theatre and Mass Communications, I went on to a career in production management making my way up to Director of Artistic Operations at the Venice Institute for Performing Arts. My journey was built on a love for experiencing all life has to offer and the stories I get to tell as a result.
Currently, I am an MFA candidate in Screenwriting at the Rochester Institute of Technology to help me pivot and become better at my craft. In my time here at RIT, I’ve written and directed several of my own short films, found a deep love for the Art Department by working on many student shorts, and became a finalist in 2024 for the Coca Cola Refreshing Films for my short “How’ The View?” which screened nationwide in AMC theaters.
If you need a script to make you laugh and cry at the same time, or an extra hand for your Art Department, I’m your gal!
